I.Corax:
I.corax is a ritual dark ambient / experimental project from Finland consisting of members of Dolorian, Halo Manash, Aeoga, Zoät-Aon, Black Swan and Depther. The music is mainly based on field recordings, acoustic instruments and electronic manipulations. I.corax is part of the ‘Helixes’ music collective.
Recorded live in Blue Vortex (25 September 2003) while rehearsing for a live performance, which took place on 27 September 2003 in Turku, Finland.

"Having been contacted by those responsible for this new musical project, i was curious about what it was, and i must indicated that this is a very interesting musical work. Dathura Suavolens is a join project conceived by members of a Brazilian Coven (Falciferi Cathedrals) associated to traditional Witchcraft, having as main objective the creation of sounds for use in magic rituals.The sound created wanders by the experimentalism adorned with tribal rhythms, using music and songs of magical practices typically Brazilian (usually the Kimbanda and Catimbó) fused with dark ambient atmospheres. Tzolk'ins third album's concept is the aural implementation of aztec mythology's deities. besides tonatiuh as the title, the gods chosen by the flint glass / empusae collaboration are: quetzalcoatl (the god of arts, crafts and knowledge, mictlantecuhtli (god of the dead and the king of the lowest and northernmost section of the underworld), tezcatlipoca (a central deity, associated with a wide range of concepts including the night sky, hurricanes, obsidian, enmity, discord, governance, divination, temptation, sorcery, beauty, war and strife), tlazolteotl (a goddess of filth, sin, vice, and sexual misdeeds), xipe totec ('our lord the flayed one', a life-death- rebirth deity), nanahuatzin ('the sun god', represented as a man emerging from a fire, originally interpreted as an illustration of cannibalism).
The idea that people were servants of the gods was a theme that ran through aztec mythology. humans had the responsibility of keeping the gods fed - otherwise, disaster could strike at any time. the food of the gods was a precious substance found in human blood. the need to satisfy the gods, especially the sun god, gave rise to a related theme: human sacrifice. from the onset, the listener is immersed into an inner vision of beauty, atrocity. darkness, emotional soundscapes, ambient spheres and pounding rhythmic patterns. overall the effect is that of fusing meditative tribal atmospheres with dark voids. ceremonial deep tones merge with dark ambient industrial music - which is all kept together by tribalistic electronic grooves and acoustic percussion. once again tzolk'in achieves musical, technical and spiritual success without sacrificing critical artistic engagement with apocalyptic motifs. tonatiuh is an idiosyncratic, ritualistic vision of post-industrial divination.
translating the atmosphere of an ancient mythic age for the listener of today - while perfectly using today's technology.

Hunts & Wars is another great release from Christopher Walton. The first twelve minutes are "Reaching for the Stars We Blind the Sky" which after about five minutes introduces some strong percussion and drumming adding a new dimension to previous drone tracks. This makes for an interesting listen - at some points itfelt like Walton was going to introduce a massive drum solo. The track eventually filters out into a distorted drone. Hilnaric takes us outdoors with some birdsong looming into darker ambience. This track sounds different from previous TenHornedBeast compositions.
"Hunts & Wars" has moved on from previous recordings and is sounding more atmospheric bordering on some dark ambient themes. The nineteen minute outro, that is the title track, leaves me feeling I have listened to an album that feels more mature than previous work, although I really enjoy listening to albums like "My Horns Are a Flame to Draw down the Truth" and "The Sacred Truth".

The live set mainly contains live only material: a mixture of composed and improvised elements that has never been experienced on CD before. Present here are also some live adapted compositions from the albums 'The Empty Hollow Unfolds' and 'Metamorphyses'. 'The Luminous Experience' is the 11th original album by raison d'être since their first album 'Prospectus I', released 15 years ago.

This is the new doublealbum, and possibly the last, that will be released as Nordvargr. Henrik has expressed that he has nothing left to give as a darkambient composer, so this might be his final stand.
Disc one of Evolution is firmly rooted in classic Nordvargr territories — darkambient but with a slight MZ. 412 touch, as it has some more bombastic and noisy elements to it than what we are used to hear from him. Disc two is divided in two parts — first 8 tracks from the
AVART sessions ("Music for movement").
Part two is four tracks which are more "elektronika"-styled tracks, and shows another side of his personality.
Evolution is best described in Nordvargr´s own words:
"Evolution contains elements of music I have recorded over the last ten years as well as completely new material. If you are familiar with my previous albums you will find sounds you have heard before, but in a new setting. But Evolution is not to be confused with a "best of" album — it is a distilled and refined album of my inner visions and feelings, filtered through my past to show the future, and possibly the end."
